About Me

I recently retired as a librarian and was named Professor Emeritus at Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo.

During my career, I’ve published many articles in academic journals and monographs related to technology and libraries. Recent research topics included using a telepresence robot in the library as well as animal robots to alleviate stress in college students during finals.

Writing fiction is a new passion of mine as evident in Artificially Yours: A Tale of Uncanny Animals on Amazon, which I coauthored with Tee Clarke.

Tee and I have been friends since we met in first grade on the south side of Chicago. We  lived on the same block and survived Catholic grammar school.

Current Work

A mysteriously gifted cat.

Life-like robotic canines.

A brilliant professor.

And a crime of revenge that threatens them all.

Set during the COVID-19 quarantine, when society could most use extraordinary pets to reduce its collective angst, the world’s most advanced prototype pet robot is stolen from a San Francisco university lab.

Professor Van Mewuen investigates the crime along with his team of sleuths, including a Midwestern colleague, a spirited librarian, a retired forensics specialist, a long-lost love, and an inexplicably empowered pet feline. And a very unexpected animatronic robot source.

Inspired by groundbreaking robot technology, Artificially Yours: A Tale of Uncanny Animals takes readers into the AI realm of future possibilities with warmth, intrigue, romance, and a healthy dose of humor.
